Hyperbaric oxygenation in peripheral ischaemic lesions in infants.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Acute peripheral arterial occlusion may lead to gangrene, with loss of parts of arms and legs. Three infants with disseminated intravascular clotting developed dark red discoloration of the tips of fingers and toes which progressed proximally. Repeated hyperbaric oxygenation treatments caused regression of the demarcation line and further progression of necrosis stopped.

[Hyperbaric oxygenation in the combined treatment of acute kidney failure].
The paper presents the review of the treatment performed in 183 patients with acute renal failure caused by trauma, myorenal syndrome, surgical, obstetric and urological lesions. All the patients underwent hemodialysis. The majority of the patients manifested hypoxia due to pulmonary edema and abnormal central and visceral hemodynamics, anemia resultant from blood loss and suppression of hemopo...
متن کاملIntractable livedoid vasculopathy successfully treated with hyperbaric oxygen.
We describe a new method for treating livedoid vasculopathy. The typical presentation of livedoid vasculopathy includes chronic, recurrent painful ulcers, satellite scar-like atrophy and telangiectasia involving the lower extremities. Histologically, these lesions show areas of ulceration and dermal vessel occlusion without frank inflammatory cell infiltration. There is currently no satisfactor...
متن کاملEffects of hyperbaric oxygen on peripheral nerves.
BACKGROUND Injuries of peripheral nerves are common and usually are part of acute traumatic injuries to the limbs. Damage to peripheral nerves may be extensive. Microsurgery has improved the rate of recovery of these injuries, but some problems remain to be solved. The purpose of this investigation was to study the long-lasting effects of hyperbaric oxygenation on peripheral nerves after transe...
متن کاملHyperbaric oxygenation and wound healing.
The purpose of this article is to review literature related to hyperbaric oxygenation and wound healing. The article discusses the role of oxygen in wound healing, as well as the effects of hyperbaric oxygenation to promote wound healing, and focuses on the use of hyperbaric oxygenation to treat foot wounds in patients with diabetes. A review of salient literature to support the use of hyperbar...
متن کاملThe role of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in ischaemic diabetic lower extremity ulcers: a double-blind randomised-controlled trial.
OBJECTIVE ischaemic lower-extremity ulcers in the diabetic population are a source of major concern because of the associated high risk of limb-threatening complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of hyperbaric oxygen in the management of these ulcers. METHOD eighteen diabetic patients with ischaemic, non-healing lower-extremity ulcers were recruited in a double-blind stu...
